Gay SpeerVegas Visitor 5/25/73IN THE NEWS May 25, 1973 - TOM JONES roars back to Caesars Palace screams the headline and "the famed showroom will have hurricane warnings up during the two-week romp" (nothing subtle about Las Vegas publicity releases). Tony Martin and Cyd Charisse make their first Las Vegas appearance in 8 years at the Thunderbird Hotel. Interestingly enough there is a photo on the cover of Burt Bacharach leading the Columbia Pictures orchestra through the score for the musical film "Lost Horizon" and the only thing it has to do with Las Vegas is that the movie is playing at the Redrock Theatre. That's something seldom done even today...taking customers away from the casinos to a local movie house. Gay Speer Taken on Location at outside Mint 400 |
