The opening of the first Howard Johnson's Hotel was held July 26, 1973, with 332 rooms and a 10 story high rise. Located adjacent to Hotel Tropicana on 19 acres that front Tropicana Road. You can see the ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Oran Gragson and Mr & Mrs Paul Oesterle of Miami, Florida who are major stockholders in the company that will operate the new facility.
