French Playboy came along in November 1973 with Liv Linderland as their first centerfold. Like Germany and Italy they started immediately producing their own French Playboy covers. Since covers are so very important in selling magazines, it made sense that they would use starlets and actresses popular in Europe to grace their covers. They did stick with American Playmates most of the time, but many of the other sexy layouts in the magazine came from work produced by German or Dutch editions. Like all foreign editions, they had the choice of using photos from the American edition, but even then they would present them in a different way than the US Playboy.
